Where are the measurements taken?

This question is more about craps tables themselves. I have seen people talk about different sized craps tables from 14 to 12 to 10 foot tables. Where exactly are the measurements for these tables taken? Is the 12' from inside wall to inside wall?

Question comes from a craps layout I saw for sale for a 12' table. The desing was noted as being 104 inches long. Well, if the 12 foot measurement is from inside wall to inside wall that would leave about 20 inches from the wall to the pass line, which just seems waaaaaay too far, so I was wondering what the 12' measurement really indicates. On a 12' table, how long is the table playing area?

HOpe you can help

Thanks

Hi Jeff

Sorry but there are just no standards to craps tables. Each group of tables is custom made to the individual casino's specifications.

They can order for example, different distances from the pass line to the end of the table, or how wide the pass line is, or how wide or how tall the table itself is. The length is the entire table length (including the chip racks). The actual playing area is cutom made, so it too varies. The people that I know that practice at home model their tables after specific casinos so they can feel at home and shoot better when they are at those casinos only - and they don't play anywhere else.

Good luck, Larry
